Principal’s Message

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year!  I am honored to begin my 7th year as the principal of this amazing school.  While this year will be unusual, we look forward to continuing the legacy of success by building strong relationships with parents, students and community partners.

This unprecedented school year will be filled with challenges, uncertainty, and change.  Mallards are resilient and dedicated and we will give it our all every day.  We know this school year will not be successful without our parents’ partnerships. It will truly take a team effort, and we are ready for the journey.

This year our theme is #MallardStrong – Better Together!.  Although it will not be a typical year, we will move forward with some exciting programs, activities, and  opportunities to strengthen our school community.  As we focus on teaching life ready skills, we will use our three Mallard Mindset core values.  Each of us has a job to be our best learner and to help those around us do the same.

Today I will:

  •  Have a good learning attitude.
  •  Be an active learner and grow my brain.
  •  Be a mindful problem solver.

These core values along with engaging instructional opportunities will give students the structure they need to achieve and succeed.

Joining me on the administrative team are our Associate Principal Tonia Christian, Resource Teacher Anne Overman, and School Counselor Lauren Pritchard.  These women are exceptional leaders and integral members of our team.

The amazing Maybeury staff are ready to educate and love your children while providing an equitable and safe environment for all of our Mallards–this is our top priority.  Together, we are #MALLARD STRONG!

In partnership,

Brad Fernald
